NASA Launches Probe to Explore Jupiter

NASA´s spacecraft Juno lifted Friday for a $1.1 billion mission to Jupiter. The probe is expected to arrive there in 2016.

Scientists hope to obtain knowledge about the origins of Jupiter and “whether the cloud-swirled world has a solid core or whether it is just gas all the way down”.

Juno is not the first spacecraft to be sent to Jupiter. Until 2003 Galileo swept though the Jovian system on a tour of the planet itself and its moons.
