Japanese automaker Honda announced a recall of about 2.49 million vehicles in the US, China and Canada to update the automatic transmission software in several models.
In the United States over 1.5 million cars are affected, including the four-cylinder Accord sedans built from 2005 to 2010.
A spokesman for Honda says the recall results from “extremely unusual circumstances. The far majority of our consumers would never really encounter this. It´s software programming. It´s not a weakness in the transmission per se”.
